Goldquest SS for Prospecting???

Hi,
I'm looking for feedback from detectorists who have used a Goldquest SS for nugget hunting. Presently, I hunt with a Tesoro Lobo ST. Would there be any advantage in hunting with a Goldquest SS over a typical VLF gold detector for 1 gram+ sized nuggets, e.g., better depth, less ground effects, etc.? I'd primarily be hunting with a PI unit in Nevada/Arizona. I'd characterize this ground as moderately mineralized alkaline ground. Certainly nothing as bad as Australian goldfield conditions.
Is the Goldquest SS a good prospecting unit for American soils, or should I triple/quadruple the Goldquest SS outlay for a Minelab SD 2200v2 or the GP Extreme?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
I use the GQ and the SD 2200d, in Nevada and CA, and I agree with Reg's comparision. If were buying now and was on a budget, I would get the GQ first. I bought the GQ for one area and found it better in this area, then the 2200. See my earlier posts on this forum
Enjoy hunting
Jim
