GoldQuest SS

Has anyone done a test with the Gold Quest SS on small gold necklaces. I was supprised to know that the Aquastar will not pick up these items and was wondering about the GoldQuest. I tried this on my CZ-20 and Sovereign. Sovereign would not even make a sound. CZ-20 made a faint sound if I brushed the necklace.
Thanks
Tom HH

I have found many gold/silver chains with the SS and it will not give a response on a stretched out chain with very fine (1 mm) links. Directly you go up to 1.5mm there is a reasonable signal and at 2mm a strong signal up to 7 or 8 inches.
Any bunching and you will find the smallest chains but the 1mm link (silver)chain that does not respond in air was found in the wet sand and was stretched out so I wonder if the silver was reacting with the wet sand/salt giving a little boost.

Where did you get the information the Aquastar doesn

If there was a detector with the sensitivity of a nugget machine that worked in and around the saltwater people would be beating a path to your store!!!!! And if it could tell the difference between ferrous and non-ferrous it would be perfect!!!! I think we have just that machine in the works. Eric will be manufacturing it, and should be available in several months.

The GoldQuest SS must be good as I haven't seen one for sale secondhand in the UK!

yes, I did remember to turn it on. In my last post concerning the Aquastar and a small gold chain I mentioned that I still wanted to test it at the beach instead of four foot away from my 41 Chevy. Tomorrow I'm out of the doghouse for awhile as I've completed most of the honeydo's. I'll snitch the small chain and give it a go on the wet sand.

As promised I took the chain (picture on Beach & Water Hunting Forum Feb. 2) to the beach today and laid it on the wet sand. No matter how I set the Aquastar it would not detect the chain. I tried max sensitivity, minimum SAT, varible threshold, etc. but could not detect the chain. I put a nickle down and could detect it at the expected 15" or so.
I certainly welcome any comments as I too am very surprised that the Aquastar would not "find" the chain.
Don -- still only one gold find in 2003.

I know five in the U.K. who have them now and all seem pleased. I don't think sales will take off until Eric updates his web-site and a report goes into one of the magazines. I sent one off with several photos but it seems to have got lost (or they are pandering to the full colour/multi-page advetisers).

Mr Bill
Thank you for explaning the situation to me.
Fascinating, all hand built!
Have you ever thought of marketing a kit?

Brian
Thank you for your information, I aggree with you.
I expect Eric has more than enough to do if he has to make them all himself.
Mind you, I can't think of anyone better to make one for me!
