Well I finally managed to get to Arizona this last weekend to test out the new Goldscan 5 on the Arizona nasty ground. My base of operations was centered around Wickenburg, AZ.
I was meet there by Bill Southern who was a most gracious host, giving up two good weekend days to take me around to gold sites, trying out my units. I brought a Goldscan 5 with a stock 11

Wow!
Thanks for the update Bill,
I think you answered everyone's questions, Very impressive.
Thanks again, Paul (Ca)

Bill, I am wondering where you got the upper rod assembly? I have been looking for one like that with a locking cam on it.

will be available? From your AZ testing,it appears a DD is not needed for most areas here in the US.

At the present time there is a 8" and 11" mono coils.
Please understand that when Eric call's them a certain size, it's the size of the windings not the overall size of the coil. So an 11" coil is a bit larger physically than 11

Only the ones I put on the ground. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
I did find a cheep WalMart gold chain burried out in the nugget fields, can that count ?? <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
All kidding aside, my point going there was to test out the operation of the detectors so I could see first hand how they work in that type of enviroment. I spent a lot of time switching out coils, and trying different settings. Finding nuggets would have been a nice bonus, but I really wasn't trying to find them.
Hey, that's hard work. I'm use to gold finding in soft beach sand. Dam, one needs explosives to get down just a few inchs there. Anyone that finds a nugget there has earned it with blood, and sweat. Has to be the hardest detecting I know of.
Mr. Bill

I am thinking of buying a gold scan to metal detect in the shore line of the sea for Spain. Can you give an idea on how deep it does?
Thanks
