Your mentioning defective ??? It may not be the fault of the detector at all. It would need to be looked at, before that could be determined. Anything other is pure speculation.
If it were something in the unit, not caused by someone else's fingers, most certainly it would be taken care of. By not letting someone else like Eric look at it, how can it be determined ?
