Great search today found 7 wheat's,1941 Washington,1940 Jefferson and some clad.Used the Minelab Profind with my Sunray and it worked flawless,by the way there wasn't a delay as stated in my first post, but the power button has to be held in for two beeps.Great day to be out in the park for a search. On a silver coin streak one found on my last three searches. Thanks Ron

Good job Ron. Was that a public park hunt?

I always say when you can find a silver washington then a site hasn't been worked real hard yet because those are the most recent silvers so they should be shallower, and being big they should have been by all rights the easiest of the silvers to find with a detector too for both reasons. Besides silver halfs or dollars of course, but those weren't being carried around in as large of numbers as the quarters were, and were far easier for people to eye sitting on the ground and so I think many of the halfs/dollars got spotted right when they were dropped by people still laying in the grass.

The 7 wheats are also a good indicator of a lot of silver still left to be found at a site as we all know too, so I'd work that site hard for a while before others beat you to it.

How deep was the washington and was it masked, on edge, gave you a good signal, etc? What about the wheats?

I see you've got the 8" Tornado on? You seem to prefer that coil, eh?

Nice finds. I'm strapped for 5 days with visitors. Oh well, next week.

Good hunt those big trees always give , been awhile since i found a silver quarter , Jim

Critter, the Washington Quarter gave a nice round tone,my first guess a deep dime or penny.Depth of the Quarter maybe 7 inches. The wheat's found here were dated in the 1940's and 50's and most required a wiggle to lock on estimated depth varied 7-9 inches.Only nickle found was a steady 144 depth probably 8 inches.Ground conditions dry but not hard packed still easy to dig.MY favorite coil the 800 Tornado was used settings no discrimination or notch, volume max, sensitivity at the 8' 0 clock position.Just rebuilt a meter that a customer dropped and worked flawless on the park search.Maybe in the last few years I worked this park 10 percent has been covered very high crime area has kept nice finds from being found. Thanks Ron

John, yea life always get in the way of our hobbies,Got the Buckeye hunt next week, had a good time there last year. Thanks Ron

Md Epidemic,it was nice hunt, not hurried, and curious with every target.Had another chance to try my new Minelab pin pointer. The weather was comfortable overcast in the low 80's yelp a good day. Thanks Ron

A nickle at 8" and wheats as deep as 9" are pretty good numbers in bone dry conditions in my soil and probably for most people who have any kind of even mild mineralization in their soil. Even the best of the best machines on the market (like the FBS and BBS machines) will struggle to get 8 or 9" by my experience of using both in my soil under dry conditions on say a silver dime or a wheat. My 12x10 seems to make those 8 or 9" coils hit/ID/sound good even when it's bone dry out, which seemed to be a bit harder for me to do with the stock 10" coil if it even could at some of these same sites when it was bone dry like that. On the other hand, I've dug two 11" coins with the stock coil, but that was when the conditions were the perfect ideal wetness to enhance signals. Both gave strong/loud/perfect coin IDs. For years and many machines owned the max I could get on a silver dime in my soil was about 7.5", and only two machines I owned out of many could do that. I was happy to finaly break that 7.5" barrier on a silver dime with my FBS units, and my GT is getting me stuff deeper than I ever thought possible in my soil.

Hi Ron. Some really nice finds. Congrats. What is that red thing on your Sovereign? I'm not familiar with the Sovereign, so I'm just curious.

Gary, going to the Buckeye hunt in New Concord, Ohio next week looking forward to the hunt.Rumor has it I might run into Ohio celebrities the likes of Critter and Elton.LOL I'll keep the camera ready just in case. Thanks HH Ron

Steve, the red thing is a 180 meter to ID targets. You ever go to the dark side I 'll get one setup for your Sovereign. Thanks Ron

Outstanding Ron, Its always a pleasure to pull silver especially a quarter out of well hunted areas.
I'm getting envious about the silver quarters as I never seem to find them...doing good on dimes and wheats though.

Hey Mat, did you hunt that cleared spot yet where you said the guy spotted a silver half or something by eye? I'm anxious to hear if you did any good there?

It's finally been raining the last few days and it's cooled way down, so I'm going to try to get out for a hunt today and tomorrow maybe. Hope to have something good to post.

Ron that is great finds, you got a great spot , keep preshure on it .
