Good morning to hunt

Went back to an old home site this morning where the cornfield is plowed right up to the house.
This house sits on 6 big flat rocks with an old tin roof. Leans real hard to the left and I'm sure someday in my lifetime it will fall over.

Found some pretty cool little artifacts and a large coin that has a hole in it. This coin is larger than a quarter but is just a bit smaller than a half dollar
I can make out a woman's head facing to the left but that's about it ( if i can clean it up enough to post a pic i will ) soaking in olive oil right now.
It also appears that someone deliberately put an X through her face.

One other item i found was a small looking button with a curved back on it like a bent nail ??? / i think i have seen the posted a few times

Pictures to come soon

I enjoy hunting old home sites or other useful structures where past human activity could have left a keeper trinket or two. We just finished holding a metal detecting group outing to several Central Oregon small towns earlier this month and it provided a lot of opportunity for those in attendance to learn how to spot potential sites .... and then secure access permission.

Unfortunately, for me, I was enduring a lot of pain in my left leg and could hardly move as it was quite painful and swollen. I tried to get some detecting in, but just couldn't. Fortunately, there are a lot of sites that I am sure have been hit in the past decades, but they exist today and it only takes finding one good target to make my day. I'll be back.

Now, along with congratulations on your site selection and target recovery, what I didn't see but like to is which model detector are you using, and the coil and settings. Just stuff that I think is useful.

I hope it cleans up well, and I also hope you keep finding potential sites because these days good targets are few and far between compared to 'the good old days."

One massive power line above my head... the kind that run through farm fields across the country.
Target was about 4 inches down in good old Indiana soil.
solid 82 on the hit

I like finding things like that. Good recovery and looks like some more soaking might work out for id'ing it. Oh, and every morning is a good morning to hunt. LOL HH jim tn
