The fracture wasn't severe enough to warrant casting. They feel that the internal rods along with his clam shell braces should be enough support while healing.
That is a blessing for several reasons. He won't have the discomfort associated with a cast and he can still take bathes. Plus, a cast can also make sleeping difficult.
Barring another injury, we don't have another doctors appointment until April 6th!!
