My first hunt for 2005 turned out pretty productive. My brother & I hit four small yards and then an old girl scout camp from the 1940's. That area is about 3 acres and we have done pretty well there before.
We tied with 11 coins each, 5 wheats with the oldest being 1934. I got the only silver with a worn 1916 dime about 4 inches down. Your could read the date but it is worn smooth on the edges so can't figure out the mint mark. Hopefully next month I will post pictures of my finds. I've only been detecting for 11 months and want to see the final tally after the first year.
We are still in the winter mode in St. Louis but ground was just right for digging. Been putting the bug in friends ears about the hobby and have been able to pick up a few more places from those sources. Have also knocked on doors near my office, presented my business card and have picked up a few more places by that method. Looking forward to another good season.
