Got a couple of interesting finds

I got a couple of interesting finds with the XS II in the last week or 2 and didn't realize what I have got until or last club meet last Friday. This dog tag is a 1888 which is before ND became a state as we were known as Dakota Territory then. ND became a state in 1889 so I was told this one may be worth something. I just thought it was a old dog tax tag that will be interesting to collectors for as old as it is. They say a guy in Fargo has a 1889 that is also from Hillsboro he found and was considered the oldest ND tag found, so I have now one year older. I also got this dateless Standing lib quarter at the same old ball Field.[attachment 7001 dog.jpg]


I also found this lighter at a old farm site and wonder if anyone seen one like this before as I would like to know what the date would be on it. I haven't got the top open yet or the bottom and may want to soak it in penetrating oil first. I see no marking on it either to see what company made it.
If you have any info I would like to hear about it.

Found this one at a homestead abandoned in the early 60's, was occupied from late 1800's till then, so not sure of the age of this lighter, might be WWI era, not sure.

Rick, any dog tag from the 1800's can be worth quite a bit, I have seen some go for 400 or 500 hundred bucks, being yours may be older than the state itself who knows if you get the right person wanting it

That dog tag will definetly bring some good moola for ya. I sold a 1900, not rare or anything for $78.00. Yours will get much more. Congrats. I love the S.L. quarter too.

I believe now this is possibly a Trench lighter from the pictures that were posted,just a little different style.
The Dog tags and tokens I find I trade to a guy for old coins,got a couple of gold pieces and some nice cap bust coins and very nice silver dollars from my tokens and dog tags. My oldest tag was a 1907 before this one. I may just have to keep this one unless I get a very good trade deal.
