Haven't posted in a few weeks due to lack of finds. Hit my favorite old city park today, the one that is very kind to Indian head cents. First decent find was a worn Indian head cent. That usually translates to an early one. Wasn't disappointed after a peroxide soaking when I could see it was an 1876. After a couple of early wheaties (1919 & 1916) I got a deep, nice repeatable tone that caught my attention. The cross hairs on the smart screen hit a bit lower than usual but I decided to dig anyway. Good thing as I recovered a three coin Indian head cent pocket spill. The three were dated 1888, 1892 and 1904. All three in great shape. A few minutes later, no more than 10 feet from where I dug the 3 Indian heads, I get another deep, repeatable tone. Dug down at least 8 inches and pulled out a nice 1902-O Barber dime. Again, another odd hit on the smart screen, no where near an upper right corner hit. A few minutes later I dug the 1901 V-nickel and then closed out the day with a nice .925 silver wedding band. Felt good to come home with 6 nice coins for a change.
