Got a little email from a buddy in NY and it was sad...so so sad........ :(

Hi,
I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I came down here to Wales,United Kingdom for a short vacation, unfortunately i was mugged at the park of the hotel where i stayed,all cash,credit card and my cellphone was stolen but luckily for me i still have my passport with me.I've been to the embassy and also reported the incident to the Police here but they need more time for investigation but that's not helping issues at all because my flight leaves few hrs from now but i'm having problems with the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until i settle the bills about ($850).Can you help me out pls or How much can you help with? I'll pay you back when i get back home pls

Well me being me I figured I'd give ole Joe a call ...yup he was still in upstate NY fine and dandy
I told him I didnt have 850.00 to send him anyways
I wont say what he said when I read him the email ...it was funny tho
He never ever calls himself JOSEPH to me

Last check on the email came from Nigeria,they aint slick enough ,maybe I shall return an email
Their dang IP aint hidden good if i could pop-shot em I would ..too far tho

basicly saying the same sort of thing. I emailed him back with a question only he could answer as I suspected it was bogus. He replied that the address book for his email program had been hijacked and these fake emails were sent to everyone on the list. Thanks for the info on tracing IP addresses, good to know.
