Bought a new ACE 250 from a guy I know in Richmond, Indiana. New in the box, and never used. Good deal. Now if I can learn how to use it. Got the DVD, so that will help. Hey Mike, I am going to contact your dealer in Michigan and see what he can do for me with the Minelab. I couldn't pass up the 250, but will see what your man can do for me with the 'lab.

...it's habit forming. Mike from Mi arranged for Brian to recieve one as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago. It is very light and very easy to learn. I have a Whites and a Fisher MD, both excellent machines but testing out the 250 in my backyard I picked up coins I missed with both of the other machines. And this was in a small area of my sideyard.

Let me know how it goes with your ace50, hoping to buy my daughter one on payday.
hey that machine can be VERY frustrating to pinpoint with while learning, BUT...........once you master it after a little practice I found that it pinpoints like a laser beam, you should be able to pinpoint so well that you could litterally stab the coin in the ground with a screwdriver. It is that accurate.
I learned that with the ace if you go SLOW and I am talking 2-3 seconds per swing, it is a good machine, if you go too fast I feel it just doesn't separate targets as well. When I could be patient and swing SLOW, I found twice as many targets.

make an "X" in pinpoint or a cross, whichever you're used to. When you have your strongest signal audio or bars on the display and it's centered, pull straight back until you reach the tip of the inner ring and the signal disappears. The tip of the inner ring is now over your target. Once you've got it it is really slick. Have fun.
Took the 250 out for a short hunt this morning before the rain started. It worked great. Found alot of clad. What it ID'd was what was in the hole, with the exception of a couple that said .25 size, and they were actually pennies. It worked well, and the pinpoint did well also. I had no trouble pinpointing with it, and was within a 1/2" of target. I am going to try it out in different modes and settings to see what it does. Found some clad that I had missed with the other detectors, probably due to my misreading the tone. For the price, it seems to be a good machine. Thanks for your imput.
Hey Terry, I agree with you. I found it worked better for me to go slow, than to go faster as the video showed. I guess it depends on the person. The tones are really easy to tell apart after you use it for awhile.

there is a GREAT video on youtube explaing how to "detune" or shrink the target, that is a great video. If you want to see it go to youtube and type in ace 250 pinpoint on the search. He actually made that video for me when I first got it and was having all king of trouble pinpointing with it
