Got a Quattro coming, any tips or pointers?

Slow steady swing and patience with your machine because it is a little different to learn from other machines but it will find stuff no problem, the hardest part that I found was getting used to it.

Besides what Bobbie told you I found one thing on the Quattro is when you think you have a good signal is the raise the coil until the threshold returns and then go over just that spot again. Many times I see where the tone will not be the same and it is not a good item, but if the tone still sound good it is one you want to dig.
Until you know it don't run too much sensitivity and when ever you do any adjusting make sure you noise cancel before you go back to hunting.

Good luck

Rick

Hi Rick. I think I had a similar experience to what you mentioned about raising the coil and rechecking a target. I got a signal in my backyard with my quattro that registered as a 37. As soon as I raised the coil "straight up" (as opposed to moving the coil left or right of the signal), the i.d. number changed to -10. I rechecked the target and I got the 37 again, but again, as I raised the coil to hit the pinpoint button it changed i.d. number to -10. HH. Sincerely, Randy

I got so aggravated with it that I wanted to wrap it around a tree, but after the first 25 hours, I started to understand it and by the time I got 40-50 hours on it, I really started liking it a lot.

What worries me about the Quattro is the slow recovery after hitting a target and the slow methodical sweep speed. I know with the CZ's I have, you can swing them pretty fast and hit targets, but if you want the DEEP stuff, you have to swing slow and even scrub the coil on the ground and listen for those fiant signals. This will be my first Minelab experience.

Thanks for the info guy's wish me luck.

Hello,
I was down at the beach a couple of weeks ago, and two guys detecting about 500m away from me were swinging their coils so fast, it almost looked ridiculous. After they left, I went over their ground nice and slow and picked up several coins. So it pays to swing slow anyway, especially in trashy ground, to give the computer time to reset itself, and to stop any potential nulling over of targets.
