Got a question for Oldrivers

Mick in Dubbo

On your show, it showed a display in the Garrett museum of "The hand of faith" nugget. As I understand it, the original, is on display in a Casino in Las Vegas. Is what is shown in the museum a cast of it?
Thanks.
Mick Evans.

The original belongs to the Casino. They paid a million bucks for it. The one at Garrett is a facsimile.

That Ol Boy huting coins in the park and finds the 2 silvers. If that isn't a planted hunt then chickens don't lay eggs.

most of ,but not all items are replicas in his museum. Not many would leave gold bars, nuggets and other really valuables in a small museum like that. You would have them in a bank vault.

well i can't convice you it isn't, so I won't bother. However I'm an honest person and was there and had told him before we asked him to do the hunt i wanted it to be real and no plants. Please keep in mind this park is across the street form garretts plant where they field test detectors. Also many clubs in north texas (about30) have hunts here. they do hide coins for their hunts. I guess I could question pictures of your hunts as well, but I have way more class than that. Also that park continually gives up gold rings, and silver coins. It's a 100 year old park. Many civic groups have used this for everything from carnivals to festivals. You should watch calling someone dishonest.I expected way more than that from you.

I think the original is at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas. I saw it. It was awsome. Is that not the one a man and a woman living in a mobil home in Australia found it with a metal detector? Supposed to have been about 6 inches deep?.....Jack

That's the one Jack. They found it with A Garrett detector. They sold it to the golden nuggett casino for one million dollars. There is a story on the garrett site about it.

there is the real picture and story behind it.

I never said anyone was dishonest. I just figured on shows like yours and others a few plants was the norm. Kind of like Youtube. Sorry. I mean across from the Garrett factory I figured it has to have been hunted to death and the odds of any silver left, let alone two nearby each other, would be pretty dang slim..

Sorry then I misunderstood. The show was of course edited due to time restraints. The two dimes were not that close together nor found that fast. He hunted a couple of hours, and I cut out the pulltabs and most of the pennys and quarters. And spliced it together.in interest of not using so much tape,he did locate some without digging, walked away and then with camera rolling walked back and started digging. Most of the digging I left out to save time. So stuff was deeper than it looks watching it.
Hope this explains it better.I knew that didn't seem like the person I thought you were so please accept my apology

All sponsored hunts leave coins behind. They never recover all that were planted. As busy as that place has been over the years it's hard telling what one would find there. Besides silver is silver regardless of how it got there. Steve is just jealous.

Yeah it was found in a wagon rut. Go figure. :) You're correct, it's at the Golden Nugget. I was trying to remember the weight, something like 50 pounds or more.
