Got hold of a couple of T-2's and noticed

the brand new one is version 6.5 made in the last couple of months... It comes on in all metal mode instead of Disc..( it even states this in the updated manual ).Then I have a Late last year model and it says 6.6 ? and it comes on in Disc like all the rest?

Obviously the version number doesn't go sequential ?

Any thought's?

Also the 6.6 runs smoother than the newer 6.5?? less noise..

Thanks

Keith

lots of posts on the forum about them.. I haven't ever seen one..but I guess they exist

Keith-----I just purchased one of the new T2's (in this last batch).----Mine comes up 6.5 also (guess all the latest ones do)---also when turned on, it comes on in AM.----I kinda wish the thing would come on in the disc mode.----Can't say if mine is "smoother" or more erratic than some of the more recent T2's cause I never had one of them.----But I CAN say "fore shore" that this T2 is waaaay more stable than the first two T2"s we had.----The wife & I got a couple of them when they first came out & they were TERRIBLE! (at least the ones we had were).-------And TROUBLE--replaced 2 or 3 coils on 'em, sent them in right regular like, etc. :veryangry:-----FT has worked thru all that though, right??---Say yes PLEASE!!! --------Del

on Saturday, it also fires up in All Metal. Personally, I don't have a problem with that. I like to set the Threshold (aka "Hum Level") before I start to hunt, and might not like the default '60' Sensitivity. That, and the fact that while the FastGrab can get a functional GB I might want to tweak it a bit, and being in All Metal makes that possible w/o having to switch modes.

It's still a T2 and does what it's supposed to do. My new unit is quite smooth compared with the earlier versions which I wasn't too impressed with.

the newer t2s with the 6.5 version start in all metal mode because of the rush on t2s from overseas. I sold my t2 from last year that was version 6.6 and come on in discriminate mode. I preferred that way but it really doesn't take much to switch it.

My brand new t2 is version 6.5 and starts in all metal.

Might be a reason.............. Though it's just flipped should not make a bunch of difference.. Might be because most use it for a Relic Machine ??????????????????..... So it comes on ready to set in all metal. I wonder if the shielding has been removed from the new units..

My T2 has been back to FT twice, befor the "weatherproofing" option. It came back the second time spinning like a top. It is really stable and smooth but dang... if there are improvements I may have to sesnd it back again. I got the F75 LTD and frankly... I think I am going to keep the original T2, it is one of the first ones. I am going to Mexico Beach, FL in a few months. I think I am going to try the F75 LTD there alongside the E-TRAC, V3, and the SovereignGT to see if I get anymore depth with it in a neutral soil, not that I hardly ever get a chance to hunt neutral soil but I think that will help me make the decision.. but I am 99% sure that I am keeping the T2 and selling the F75 LTD. Heck, I son't want to dig two foot deep holes anyway.

You remember I live in Cartersville?? in case you ever want someone to hunt with. I hunt mostly with Roy but lets go sometime. I live off Firetower Rd between Cassville and Kingston.

Well, thanks for getting me started thinking I might need to update my T2. If I send it in I am going to send a note telling them I want it to be as stable as it is now!! :)

you got alot of nice machines in your stable. In your soil, what machine gives you the best depth on silver, with a decent ID?

It is only my opinion... the E-TRAC. The conductive number on the ET is incredibly reliable. That, coupled with the tone and depth reading and the right disc pattern really help to find good "masked" targets of any sort. That isn't to say that the others are not good too, it is mostly in your experience with your machine but all things equal... the ET would win I think.

i was just looking for your opinion based on your experience!
