Only had time to sneak out for about an hour before the rains came today, so I ran over to my favorite "seated park" and, although I haven't found a seated there for a while (My buddy Elevatorguy has cleaned it out- Thanks Todd!), I found this beautiful 1895-S Dime.
Going along in an area that has produced many seated coins, and using the slow sweep and listen carefully method, I thought I heard that sweet silver sound next to some junk. Pinpointed at 8 to 10 inches, and after pulling the plug out, the X1 probe told me there was silver there. Dug this baby out and couldn't see the date, so I just popped it into my vial of olive oil until I got it home. When I got it home and ran it under hot water, I could see a mintmark, which is always nice on these babies, and at first glance of the date side, it looked like a 1905. Checked it out under the glass and I could see it was 1895! Being a former coin business operator, I knew the 1895-O was worth a bundle in this nice a condition, so I was praying that's what the MM would've been, but nope, an S. Still a nice one though, and now all I need is the 1895-O and I would have all 3 of the 1895 series from that park. Found an F/VF 1895 last year.
