Got me a meter from Ron from Michigan !!...

Well-known member
I was reading up on the meter project that Ron from Michigan was making out of a Centech digimeter .....I was very intrigued as I like to read things and work with things like this ......OK , I DON"T LIKE PAYING HIGH PRICES FOR GEAR IF I DON{T HAVE TO !!.......:bouncy: ....... So I had Ron make e this meter to throw on my newly aquired XS and I have to say that when I got this thing in the mail , I was pretty impressed !!!.....Ron really makes a nice little setup with the wire , and the light weight shaft mount , and he paints everything up nicely and this is really a sweet package ...... It works just as good as any other meter out there , and it costs less than 1/2 of what the others are going for ..... The only thing that you have to do is drill and solder in a little jack for the wire to go from the #5 and #6 pin on your Sovereign to the jack that I understand Ron will be supplying with the kit for a mear $50 shipped to your door !!......You all know how hard it is to find the Sunray meters and how much they cost .....These are the real deal and the price is right .... Ron does all the hard work for you ..... Just thougth I would let you guys looking for a meter know what I experienced ....Its always good to help out a forum member and this is a win / win situation for all concerned .....Thanks for listenning !!..... Jim

Jim,Thanks.I think these meters may help for those looking for an alternative.I have noticed the Cen-Techs even with the same model numbers have different internal layouts.I think the yellow meters are the best. When the weather breaks looking forward to your results in the field.I have have about four hours in the field on one of my Cen-Tech and I'm pleased with the performance.Again Thanks HH Ron

Just out of curiosity what does iron read ? negative or just 0

I had a reading of 32/46 on my E Trac .....on the Sovereign with the CenTech meter it read -499 .......Jim

I'm,trying to get everything squared away to get some serious metal detecting in with my brother's.I will bring two Cen Tech meters to use, probably going to hit some rain but again nothing is text book in real field conditions.I forgot to bring a small screw driver along for the first time out and this is a must for this type of pot adjustment if needed.Jim I reversed the wire positive reading as should the negative sign is gone.Got an old Beamer R 80 with nice saddle bags going to use this for transportation this summer to save money for gas.Maybe fit the rod asm in the backpack,Sovereign box, meter and probe in the saddle bag. Also the negative iron reading null -499 here also.
