Sounds a lot like Bryce doesn't it? Not even close...Bryce is like the "Master" and I am "Grasshopper" Anyway, hunted the same park last weekend that gave me the piece of eight. I got there earlier than my pardners and started to work. Not much to give but a few clad until she hit that notch that pays...BINGO.... 6" or so down was an 1897 O Barber dime. Pretty well worn but all there....lots more clad, a dog tag and LOTS of trash later, I had a low tone that read 11-4 on my Ex2. Funny thing about this low tone hit was for some reason or another, I instantly remembered that when I first got my EX2 back in the summer of 2006, I remember watching the DVD that came with it and laying the machine on the kitchen table. I went around the house and grabbed all the gold jewelry I could find and ran each piece over the coil to see what the signal read and the sounds they made. I distinctly remember one gold piece reading 11-4 on the digital scale. So here I was last Saturday with that same reading and it froze me in my tracks. Now I have been hearing low tones all day and even dug up several just to find pop can pieces in the holes. For some reason though, that sound and reading froze me. I crept along like a creepin Joe (Thanks Bryce for the visual) and dug the plug. As soon as the plug was over I saw what I thought to be another piece of gold foil trash, BUT IT WASNT!!! It was a 14K Gold Lions head medallion. Now I've dug jewelry before in silver and gold but this was the FIRST TIME that I have found something that I was actually able to wear right away! I'm wearing it now as goofy as it may look 'cause I don't care!!!!!! At 3.9 grams it it fairly sturdy and everything is intact. As soon as I found it to be in good working shape, it made me realize that since the medallion didn't break, the chain MUST have! I searched a radius of about 10 or 15 feet all the way around the original target but was unsuccessful at finding the chain. (Any hints on where or what pattern to look at would be appreciated) Any way it was a great day at a last chance hunt before it's freezing like now.
