Got my 2nd DATED SLQ in 35 years and a SWEET Sterling stickpin I need help ID'ing.:super:

Trying a Pistolprobe, or Garrett Pro hand held pinpointer with the Exp II. I know once you use a SunRay all else seems less.
But with the operation you describe with the EXP II maybe less would be better.
Just a thought..........Your more than welcome to try my Garrett see how it works before you buy.
Contact me if you want me to send it.

What a beauty Bryce!!! The SLQ is my favorite coin too along with the 3 cent silver. Congrats on finding such a nice one.

Bryce,

First of all, congrats on the great finds!!

The X-1 on the Explorer II functions the same as it does on the SE except it is not VCO - it rachets. If you have the detector in disc mode when you switch to probe (which it should be) and want to go to the final pinpoint mode hold the probe in the air away from the hole and then push pinpoint. When you insert the probe tip in the hole it will pinpoint the location of the target with the rachet effect and when the intensitiy is the greatest you should be directly over the target. Sometimes you may have to switch back and forth between disc and pinpoint to achieve the right pinpoint effect due to the detectors de-tuning function (as also happens sometimes with the SE or E-Trac). However, with a little practice it is quite easy to do. It is the same as pinpointing with the coil except in miniature. Hope this helps.

"It's the same as pinpointing with the coil except in miniature"

That's the problem with me on the EXII. I absolutely love it...but I do not like the pinpoint on it...and therefor that filters down to how it makes the Sunray probe function for me...since the probe does function as a small coil.

First off let me clarify something...I could not..and would not EVER hunt without a sunray probe on my machine.

I just don't like the pinpoint on the EXII because I am used to the one on my SE.

I'm used to flipping on the Sunray probe...hitting the pinpoint...then checking the hole with the probe for a VERY accurate ID of the target to tell me whether or not it's iron or a possible good target

I can't do that with the EXII...because it doesn't ID in all metal pinpoint...and I can't track cursor "flutter" or movement.

Now on a side note...my hunting buddy...the Yeti (Phil) told me he will be ordering a new probe on the shaft from you in the next day or so.
He asked my true thoughts on the EXII compared to my SE...and I told him. Hence...he picked up a used EXII on the classifieds...and will now be ordering a probe setup from you.:bouncy: :super:

He has been using an XS and doing well with it...but now wants to try the EXII after seeing how I liked it. He is already used to the pinpoint on the XS...so the EXII will be no different for him. For me...it is a BIG change.

Anyway Ralph..thanks for making a great product...or I should say products. I could not hunt without my Sunray pro gold headphones either.:)

AWESOME HUNT BRYCE I'M READY TO GO AGAIN..... I'M GLAD I WAS THERE AGAIN 2 SEE YOUR SECOND STANDING LIBERTY COME OUT OF THE COLD BLACK GROUND...VERY NICE COIN WITH A DATE. WE HAD A VERY PRODUCTIVE DAY...LOT'S OF SILVER AND WHEAT'S. :buds:.....HH..PHIL

just wanted to say thanks.

Tomorrow I have big plans with push mower on a very steep incline around a pond. Should be a dogfight lasting about 4 hours:starwars:...and I usually slip...slide...or just plain roll into the pond at least once:bouncy:.

No way I'll let my dad try it though...and he's stubborn and very strong. If I don't get there to do it...he'll try it himself.:help:

how the heck did it end up in my little crappy podunk park:biggrin:

I have had 3 different people check and research the coin for me then pm me...and they all came up with the same thing:
Chinese coin is from the Chien Lung period, circa 1736 to 1796.

Nice finds & nice SLQ. The last few SLQ's I have found have been dateless so it's been a while since I have found one. Back in 2006 when I still was using my White's XLT, I found at least 7-8 SLQ's that year & I remember at least 3 of them having readable dates. One was a 1923 which is before they recessed the date on the coin. How's that for luck? I hear you about the VCO pinpoint. I'm glad Minelab added that to the Explorer SE. I guess that's just because White's had it on the XLT and I was used to using it.

your mailbox is crammed again. better get rid of some messages. I just pm'ed you and it wouldn't go through. I have some good news about the ground around the cabin.
