Got my Omega 8000 today!

Can you please do an air test using a cent, dime, nickel and quarter? and congratulations. I'm about to get one too. I think, it will make a difference. What other machine did you use to work with?
I have the Delta 4000 and plan on keeping it and mounting a 5 inch coil on it

The nickel tonight seem to be coming in at 9, 10 inches ( didn't have a tape measure handy )
Lots of power lines in my backyard also and sensitivity at 55 was about all it could handle ( this was true with the Delta also in the back yard )
couldn't run sensitivity up to 10 with the delta ( 6 or 7 in the backyard was all i could do )
But in an open field... maxed out all the way
We'll see how the Omega does there.

You probably did a good buy man, because there are a few omegas being listed as used for sale, so to me, that means that no body wants to get rid of these wonderful units. Please show your results and they will be really appreciated. Thanks and regards all the way from South Texas.

Great results!!!
In the Discriminate mode the Sensitivity control can be used to tame EMI issues and calm the detector down, if necessary, but in the field and away from interference I usually operate at 99.
In the AutoTune All Metal mode, the Sensitivity control serves especially as the Threshold level adjustment.
Your indoor comparison, using the 11" coil, is certainly interesting and I wonder if the interference caused you to reduce the Sensitivity to a setting of '58'? It might have. Usually, with each of the coils on my Omega or others I've used, a Sensitivity/Threshold level setting is often achieved at somewhere from about '68' to '72'. I'm just curious if you set your Sensitivity based on EMI problems, and if so if that was in the Disc. mode and maybe an increase could have been used in All Metal? That might have added a bit to your overall depth-of-detection.
I think you are going to enjoy learning and using the Omega. It's a great detector.

Went out today to do some depth evaluation / air tests
Temp outside frigid!!!

sensitivity 99
Discriminate at 15
coil size 11 inches
I read some of Monte's post and tried to do it as he explained ( forgive Monte if i didn't get it right )
I placed on the ground the following items after finding a spot free of metal and then ground balancing
12 oz red bull can
Morgan Dollar
1939 Standing Liberty half Dollar
1918 Standing Liberty Quarter
1885 Indian Head penny
10 mm gold wedding band
10 mm silver wedding band
Large Tungsten Carbide Steel wedding Band
All of these items rang up around 10 inches as i moved the coil further from the ground ( stopped short of iffy signals )
The red bull can came in at a good 24 Inches.
So, for me and my machine, i can be confident that a possible good coin size target would be in the first 10 inches of soil unless it is a Treasure Chest of gold buried at 24 inches
I have read about Hallow effect and was wondering if a good target would respond deeper if buried for a long time compared to a new target buried today.
