Got one more cleaned. I'm not the greatest at IDing these coppers

I do know it's a lot of fun digging them.
Again, I've only cleaned it enough to maybe get an ID.

That's a Connecticut copper, Bob. Bust facing left in good cond is worth $225, minted in the 1780's. I got my new 2007 Red Book today...can you tell? I guess we put up the toys for a while, boy won't the wives be happy. Ron

Ya I gotta get a job going. Wife not happy about me telling her what to do all day:rofl:

Have you tried soaking them in vinagar???
Not sure if it damages the coin though...
Seems to work well for me..
But nerver got one that far back

Oldest for me was a 1884 Canadian Large cent.

RE: AVI..I had got it down to 13 KBs...wouldn't load

The forum says it must be smaller than 40 kb--?

It loaded at 3kb..?

Thanks again for your help..

I don't think I want to use vinegar yet. Some of these coppers are a once in a lifetime finds. That is when your my age:heh:

Picked up a copy of Andy Sabish's earlier book. He has 2 tips that I never heard of if olive oil won't do the trick. #1 - soak the coin in Worcestershire (sp?)sauce..if that doesn't work, slide the coin in a raw potato for a week and the enzimes will eat the corrosion. If those two don't work, slice the potato and fry in the sauce, at least you won't go hungry. Oh... don't forget to take the coin out first. Ron
