Was up at 3am for some reason...didn't want to go, but read the forums and got all jacked up on hopium! I nearly missed this one, 10k 2.3 gr foil signal. F70 set at 61 sens, -2 thresh, 1 disc, DP tones. The main beach is swept clean from the water up to about 30 yards inland, the only targets were in the high sand, I hear guys are working it at night, dam them! So I was zigzagging and wandering around in the dark, leaving tracks like a drunken centipede, jumping from one cooler print to the next, I found what I thought was a wallet in a zip lock bag, it turned out to be two strawberry poptarts! Yum! I found a full bottle of water to wash it down just at sunup. I was thinking about leaving but decided to make one more pass over an area that has been good to me high up...hitting some clad, wadded up gum wrappers, pulltabs, bobbypins etc. I could see the tracks I made earlier, since the dew on top of the sand highlights the fresh early morning footprints. I got near to one of my earlier sweeps, and maybe a foot outside of an earlier swing, BANG! The lesson, Get up and go even when you dont want to, for one of these days you will want to, but cant!

Lakota, I think the stone is a peridot, or some sort of tourmaline,..Yeah, Zeek, you goaded me into another one, thanks! Elton, If I ever win a hat, I'll wear it right! Jim, it was a long time coming, and lots of fruitless miles in between..I'll try to get a string of them going...Thanks Tim and EZ..it did come in at 23 on the tid..course it was still a little dark, so I was not paying too much attention as a matter of fact, I'm not sure if it was poptarts I found and ate or some handiwipes after a diaper change!
