Decided to go try a Vacant Lot that is next to a Church in town here since I have found a few Wheat Pennies there once before a few years back. This Lot is full of Iron and most spots creates a Solid Null. I first went and tried the Boulevard where I once found an Eisenhower Dollar a couple years ago and started finding New Coins. I must of did a quick walk thru last time because I found a few Old Coins here on this Boulevard that I didn't find before. I was hunting with a guy that I work with and just got him interested in this hobby and told him to start out with something cheap so if he decides that this isn't something he would like to do for a hobby, that he would have very little invested into it and he could get most of his money back if he decided to sell his new Detector. I had him buy a Garrett Ace 250 since I knew they were a great machine for the price. I had a target that was a good 8"+ deep and had him swing over this target. To my amazement, I couldn't believe that the 250 could get this target both ways without even any kind of trouble. I am very impressed with the Depth that the Garrett Ace 250 gets and my hats off to Garrett for such a great machine. I told him he got a heck of a detector for the price and now he wants to get a Sunray Probe for it. Anyways, I found 4 targets for him and he was anxious to find his first Old Coin, so I decided that I would find a few targets that I knew were Older Coins and let him find them and keep them. The 4 targets that he recovered were 3 Wheat Pennies and an 1896 Indian Head. So I would have had 4 more Keepers today but decided to share some finds to get him more interested in the hobby. I think he is now HOOKED! We even went across the street to some Apartments that he lives at and tried the Boulevard there and were making some Old Coin Finds. Enough said and now to what I found today. I found 2 Silver that included another Silver Washington Quarter dated 1964-d which must have been dropped when New and also another Barber Dime dated 1909. I also got a reading in digital of 7 which I thought for sure was going to be junk and decided to see what it was and I was shocked when out came 2 Buffalo Nickels stuck to each other. The dates are 1916 and 1918-d which books in at about $40.00 - $100.00. I know that it isn't worth that due to pitting but it sure wasn't a bad find! I also found 2 Indian Head Pennies dated 1891 with Triangles showing on Ribbon and a 1905. Also found 3 Wheat Pennies date 1919-s,1936-d, and 1948-d. I also found a Cub Scout Clasp. Not bad finds for only 2 hours work. Good Luck and HH and thanks for looking.
