Hit a old farm site that has no buildings anymore and is over grown. One buddy found a buff, and the other got a gold plated pocket watch frame. I got an old rosette. We found an old well there that was exposed and when looking inside I seen a big box turtle in there. I got a limb and tried to see if he was alive and he wasn't. Been in there too long. Seen some other bones from another critter that fell in years ago. Then while moving some weeds out of the way I spotted another box turtle. This one was still alive. Mike and Keith to the rescue. We got him out and he was just a little fella, maybe 4" long. Being the Eastern Box Turtle is rare to the great lakes region, I figured we should save him. We also got several limbs to mark the spot for future people and critters. We left that site. The others went home and I went to an old park. Got 8 wheats, and an old Ford Model T hub cap there.
Great day to be our digging!
