Didn't get a pic of the finds yesterday but was a pleasure meeting another detectorist from downstate (Saginaw area). He was using a Garrett ACE 250 as was I on the beach...I got there earlier than him so had found much more...and he recently got his detector. He didn't have a scoop or digger. He was using his hands and an Automax V4 probe for a digging tool. We had a nice long talk. He said he'd be back next summer and would look me up. He mentioned seeing 5 other detectorists during the week he has been up here. Probably vacationers with detectors. He mentioned they weren't having much luck.
Today I finally broke down and took out a Tesoro Eldorado to see how it worked. Reminds me of a squeaky toy when it finds something. Here's a pic of the finds and one of the trash.

This is the same place I went and had found 221 coins over $13 in change earlier this summer.
Got $2.69 in change along with a 1934 Wheat penny, plus the Batmobile, a 4 Wheeler Truck, a rusty hook disgorger (?), some sort of weight and a small bell. There was lots of very thing wires I found and then realized I was removing sparkler wires, from the 4th of July celebrations, from the beach sand. I still do not understand why people have to bury their trash (crown caps, pulltabs, etc.)
Did have a great time until I was packed up and ready to go home. Seems everything was properly put into the back end of the van and I closed the rear door. At that point I had this feeling something was missing...it was. Locked in the back end was my key and electronic door opener for the van.
5 miles from home. No key. Can't walk that far but had I done that, was thinking I could ride the bicycle back...even though I don't know how to shift a 21 speed bike...(had problems when I had a 10 speed).
Tried calling a friend near my home to go get Sherry's key for the van. No go - no one home that could help. I won't go into all the details but I made it home - with the van. I did try a coat hanger...but it slipped from my fingers and had joined the keys in the locked van.
