Got Permission today...

About 8 or 9 years ago the state built a new highway around the East side of town and in the process, a house that stood nearly on an intersection was moved. The highway missed the site by about a hundred yards so the empty lot is just sitting there and I got premission to hunt it. I don't expect a whole lot since the house was only built around 1970 and moved about 2005. But what keep us dummies going out day after day is: you never know. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Good luck......... the house may not be that old

but the GROUND has been there a LONG time!!!

Sad to say that the whole thing was a complete bust. From Google Earth, I could see that there was at one time a house on both the NW and SW corner of this intersection. I went through both sites and other than a few flattened cans, found absolutely nothing. On thinking it over, I expect that the state did an lot of dirt moving in both locations while building the new highway. So nothing to report.

I ran into that problem at my church. There is a lot of the woods I haven't covered around the church, but it's full of briars with thorns like daggers. Maybe they will do a controlled burn one of these days and it will be more accessible. The last trip out there about 3-4 weeks ago I just found cans and other metal trash. One dead snake which means lots more living snakes and since I hunt alone, I've decided to avoid this area until cooler weather. Where they planted the pines is where they used to tie the horses back in the 1890's thru the early 1900's when cars became available. I have the feeling I'm going to find something special there one day. Good luck & HH.
