Got skunked at the old park :(

I hit that old park and I got skunked. Absolutely nothing there that I could find with the 10

It happens. I was at a cellar hole in the woods for 1 1/2 yesterday and got nothing but a small religious metal.

...many times King! But, you never really know do ya? The next time you're there may be your best outing yet! Keep us informed when you get that 12X15 coil...I'm very interested in getting one myself. HH

King, have you tried a pattern program in that park. I took my older coins and made one using LEARN that i used yesterday. The park isnt that old but i have found some 1920's silver. Its very difficult to hunt because of EMI from power lines in the ground. Most of the older stuff ive found was in that area. I turned down the threshold to 6 just so i didnt have to listen to the trash. What i ended up with was 14 nickels, 2 silver dimes, 2 silver quarters, and a hand full of mem pennies. I was surprised at how little trash i dug... some pull tabs and can shread that read as nickels. Most deep cans you could tell right away. Sometimes we get to hunting for too many targets. If you plan on concentrating on older coins use your older coins and take advantage of a good pattern... they do work.

All I have so far is a mercury dime so that is not going to work but that is a thought. A smaller coil would probably work better at this site. The coil was telling me that there was a lot of trash in the ground. What's a good small coil for the SE? The 4.5x7" or the 6" SEF coil?

Trust me King a pattern will work even with all that trash. You just wont hear as much but those you do hear will be good targets.

I had forgotten about the patterns, heehee because I am so excited about be able to use the SE reliably now. That is a good idea, if I had the coins I would do it. Maybe if I bought some cheap merc,IH, seated, barbers and old wheaties I could make a pattern. I am going to look into that.

Sorry to hear about your skunk at the old park. Not what I was expecting from you. I can't believe that you didn't find anything. Maybe a smaller coil would be the ticket if you were encountering a lot of trash. Better luck next time.

I am trying the bigger place that I posted Mo morning. a smaller coil would've worked better I think or a very good coin pattern.

I just found a place where you can buy grab bags of 19 & 20th century coins. I could use those to make a good pattern for trashy areas.
