Finally got to swing for a while yesterday. After meeting up with Ashdigger for lunch to discuss our upcoming club hunt, we decided to hit a park or 2. spent about 6 hours total and came up with only 3 wheat cents, a gold plated ring with what looks like a real, albeit very small, diamond and a fired .58 cal mini ball. Not one stinking silver coin:shrug:

Oh well, i guess I cant get em every time.

The ring is marked 1/40 10K gp which i understand is a very heavy type of gold plating.

were swingin' the coil...then you did find something....enjoyment...peace...freedom...and on and on.
3 wheaties would be a stellar day at some of my sites by the way:smoke:

Very true Bryce. Just wanted to see some silver.

My bad luck turned worse today. went out to redeem myself from yesterday and within 30 minutes got kicked out by the Parks and recreation dude. Citing some stupid city ordinance about not being allowed to dig holes in any city park.

This can get ugly:ranting:

Well I would check out the ordinance myself. I had that happen to me, however prior hitting the parks I called and talked with the city manager and I was given permission. The office mentioned to me that I was the only one that has called. Gave me permission for all the parks. Well, when I hit one of the major parks, one of the workers came over and gave me the riot act. I calmly mention that he should check with his supervisor and I named him by name and explained to him that I indeed had permission. One of the over supers came over and said not to worry about it the other guy was just feeling his oats. I made friends with a lot of the park workers and had no problem since. I relocated to Florida and I have checked the ordinances and even had some park workers come ask for my assistance locating items for them. (Most city and county ordinances are now listed on websites)

Tell him you were not digging holes but helping him by lawn aerating for him.

Great info Rich. I am definitely going to look into it and try your approach. Thanks

Thats funny Montana. Dont know if he would have bought it though:help: He said I could detect just cant dig up anything I find:stars: go figure.

After a few words that was quickly leading up to:argue: I decided to back off so I can gather some info before I ruined it for the rest of the town hunters.

Bob just FYI I talked to Tony and he has sold several detectors to park employees that detect the parks. He doesn't know of any local ordinance against it but I'm going to do some deeper checking on this I've been hunting these parks since the early 70's Later..

Thanks Steve. i appreciate you looking into it too. We will get to the bottom of this.

Last summer I had a somewhat ugly run-in with a DPW employee that also told me "I could detect, I just cant dig up anything I find" -- is it possible that there are two people in the country that are THIS freakin' stupid or do you think it's the same guy?!?! I'd been detecting this park for years without any issues until this jerk came along. Unfortunately, there is a local ordinance against disturbing/digging any vegetation or grass - I'm gonna go back soon and see if this moron shows up again.
