Got some great finds on Tuesday Night!:super:

I only went out for an Hour and a Half to a yard that I have done some detecting in before with my Stock Coil so I thought I would swing by and try the Pro Coil over some of it to see if it could sniff me out any Keepers. These finds were found in area's I know that I have gone over with the Stock Coil which is just more proof to me that Minelab has really improved something in these Coils to make them so Hot in Dry Ground. I also learned that Dick had sold his house and has to be out by the 1st of Sept. so I will have to buckle down and work that yard before he moves. So here are the few finds I got. I found 2 Indian Heads in his yard, which is a 1st time thing since the oldest thing I ever found was a V-Nickel next to a Tree from 1906. I kinda figured there was Indians somewhere but never found any until now. They were dated 1880 and 1898. Now to go back and hope for some Barber to show up since I have never gotten any Old Silver from here either. Anyways, I also found 2 Wheats dated 1920 and 1929-d. Now for the Super Finds I found on this short but SWEET HUNT. Just about a foot away from the Tree I had found the V-Nickel at, I got a 26-27 reading thinking maybe a Wheatie. I dug down and about 8" Deep, out pops a Sterling Silver Heart. It was Old and has some nice designs to it. I showed it to Dick and he thought it was a really neat item. I stuck the Probe back into the hole and it sang out once again. I dug out more dirt and another Heart appeared. Dick said maybe it was a Charm Bracelet and I think he was right because this wasn't all of it. When I finally gave up and after removing a Large Square Bent Nail that was with these interesting items, I had dug 7 Hearts, some with highly Designed Chain still attached, a piece of Chain, a Small Bird that was attached to the Heart with the Name of Lee on it, the Eagle and item that was attached to the Heart with the Name of Gladie on it, the USN item that was attached to the Heart with the Name of Jean on it, and the Very Nicely Designed Clasp. I still got some Nulling in the hole so I am sure it may have been some of the Chain too small to give a Signal off of so I may have to go back and run the dirt through a Screen with some Water to see if there is anymore Silver to be had. This is one of the Neatest and Most Designed pieces of Jewelery that I have found and I am glad to have recovered it before Dick has to move out. The Charm Bracelet will be in Part:2 so please look. It's a great piece of Treasure that I added to my Collection. Also, I found a piece of my Home Town's History on Tuesday. I found a Tag from 1 of the Old Businesses that goes back to 1884. It reads Gallup's Livery & Feed Stable with Stall Check 85 in the Center of it. The Business is shown in my Casselton, N.D. Centennial Book and I also have a Pic of this for you to see which adds a little History to the item found and what the Building looked like back then. The Business doesn't state when it closed so I will have to do more digging to see if I can get a Time Frame when it closed since this would help me in knowing if this Item is Dakota Territory or not. Even though it wasn't a lot of great finds, it sure was fun digging all them Sterling Silver Charms out of 1 hole and to find that Gallup's Livery & Feed Stable Stall Check. No Silver Coins but that didn't matter at all. Glad you liked the finds and Good Luck and HH on your next hunt.
 
Dick and asked if he knew if any previous Owners of the House had any children and he didn't recall any that he knew of. But then again, this Charm Bracelet most likely dates back before his time since he is in his 60's. It could have been lost by a Renter back in the day so who knows. Looks like a great seal and a set of pilot's wings. Probably a neat story behind the gal and the guy who they represent.
 
I especially like finding V Nickels, since I haven't found very many yet & they are more likely to have a date
than the Buffaloes.

In fact, just about any Nickel you can if the Date is gone. The only one I have trouble with is the Shield Nickels. It seems the Date just blends in with the rest of the Coin but for any other Nickel, Nic-A-Date will bring back the Date for you, and this way, you will know what the year is of that Nickel instead of guessing. Any Coin Dealer should carry Nic-A-Date Date Restorer For Nickels and it should cost about $5. It's an Acid that you apply to the Nickel and when the Acid turns Black after a few minutes, you just wipe it off with a rag. If the Date isn't showing yet, then just apply another drop to the Date Area of the Nickel and wait until the Acid turns Black once again. I wait about 5 Minutes and then wipe off. It may take 3-4 times for the Acid to pull the Date but it does work. After the Date is visible, then just rinse the Coin off and wipe it dry. Make sure not to get any Acid on your Skin, since this may cause irritation which is a Warning on the Bottle. Hope this will help in them Nickels you find that are Dateless and thanks for the reply. I knew there was a product out there called Nic-a-Date, just haven't ever used it. Might have to try some sometime, as a pretty good percentage of the Buffalo Nickels I have found the last few years didn't have a discernable date. Since the coins probably aren't worth anything the way they are, I wouldn't be losing anything by using it. I wonder if there is something you could use on the dateless Standing Liberty Quarters. I bet at least half of the ones I have found are dateless.
 
I've used the nickel date restorer and it works great. But be prepared for a huge let down if one of those nickels is a rare date!!!! There is also a silver date restorer that the same company makes. I have used it on a Standing Liberty Quarter and it worked, but it took longer. Both stink when inhaled!! Use ventilation. The silver one I think is nitric acid and I'm not sure if the other one is sulphuric or hydrochloric acid, but you get the picture. It will eat into and stain your fingers. Good luck!!
 
remember what it was or where to get it. Only the Old Timer's out there may remember what it was if they ever new it existed at all. The Nickels are pretty much worthless so go ahead and get some Nic-A-Date and try it. You'll be glad you did! Good Luck and HH.
 
I have been looking for some for a long time because a few years ago I found a Standing Liberty Quarter Type 1 that may be the Valuable One, but most likely is the 1917. Thanks for any info you can tell me. Good Luck and HH.
