GP Short Protection?

I need some help Guys?
My GP shorted out on me yesterday. Just when it was working better then ever. It was because of the Power Cord. Everytime I bent over the sound would go out. Then when it stood up it would come on. Until finally it went dead on me.
Should have quit when the trouble started but I didn't. I hope it is protected with a fuse or circuit breaker or something inside. This control Box is new and it worked great compared to the old one. Hope the repair is minor. Yes, I did try it with everything changed, p cord, coil, battery etc. and still no go.
The day before my 21 on/off switch quit on me. That is the second time for it. Right now I can use it but can't shut it off unless I unhook the
Power cord. Guess thats it. Boy, what a week. Good thing I Found some gold along the way. By the way, it was 16 degrees here in Gold Basin AZ this morning.
Does anyone know if the Gp is fuse or ? protected?
Could it have fried? I checked my power cord wires and noticed one of them was bare. Does it have a bare ground wire or did it burn off the coating? Sure appreciate it.
Thanks.......joebody

Joe:
You have a genuine Minelab Curly cord, - talk to Doc and get yourself a decent Coiltek Heavy duty one. As to whether you have fried the GP, - I hope not but I dont know for sure. It should be covered by warrantee, - its not your fault they use inferior cables on their units. (That bare wire is normal, - they are ex CB radio surplus stock used in thier curly cords). John
