I recently purchased a 4800 and took it out several times, I am a novice with this machine but an experienced relic hunter. I hunt predominantly in areas with good soil conditions. I used the recommended factory settings for good ground and its performance seemed anything but lack luster. I dropped a minie in a hole and performed simple air testing. My MXT came in much stronger than of the 4800. I read postings of folks who hunt with the GPX series in good ground conditions, and state they found bullets and plates at 12-18 inches. Am I missing something here?
