GREAT NEWS:jump:I FOUND THE OWNER.

After lots or research I found the owner of the 1968 class ring i found with my ACE 250 at the beach 3 weeks ago. She lost the ring in 1969. So that ring has been in the sand for 40 years.Whats really cool is that she is flying to Virginia for a class Reunion on the 24th of OCT. so i get to present her with her ring. It also looks like it is going to make the local news. She was so excited.

- -the planets have lined up just for this one. I hope you have bought some lotto tickets.

Nice gesture on your part. Congrats !!

You are a true ambassador for the hobby. With gold at record highs I'd be very tempted to scrap it.

Chris

Sweeet,, finding the owner is not easy . Confidentiality with the schools now a days is a dead end for information.

That girl is gone give you a big wet kiss..

Man that is great. What a story that will make. You need to get some pics of you presenting the ring and send them and the story to Garrett. You will appear in their Searcher newsletter and you may make it into their catalog and flyers. Instant stardom. :)

Great work! I hope you get the recognition you deserve. You did well to find the owner and, as dahut said, the timing courldn't be better.

Well yeah, I guess she was excited is right. You really did something so nice
I just don't know what to say. Seeing things like this make me proud that I
swing a detector. Lost for 40 years and now you are able to return it to her in
person. Would you call that coincidence or maybe something else.
Don't know myself so I will call it just great.....unbelievably great !!
WTG on your detective work on tracking her down. I don't know how or
when but I feel you will be rewarded for what you have done. You did good !!

Thank you , as much as i can use money to get my water detector, I feel better doing the right thing, and if we all did things like this, maybe there would be a little more understanding for the hobby we all love so much. I feel good about it.

Thanks Bill, i think i will do that. It is a good story.

Awesome!:super:Too cool!:clapping:Hey, if it does make the local news, see if you can post a link to the story on this forum. Thanks for sharing! Happy Hunting!:)

WTG jimmy jam that is AWESOME news. Congrats!!

Hey there ain't no greater feeling than returning some cherished item that has been lost. I have a friend who lost a $2000 heirloom ring that her 100 year old mother gave her while out doing yard work. She was on the phone instantly wanting me to come find her ring. I grabbed my tector and rushed over and found it in about ten minutes. She about hugged me to death. Worth more than any monetary reward. You done good. Don't forget to get some pics and send them along with the story into Garrett and you'll probably show up in the Searcher or in their next catalog.

Bill

I am very proud of our metal detecting community and of you. Like someone said, gold is at an all time high, but some things like honesty, character and integrity money can't buy. Please get all the publicity you can for your efforts. The public needs to know we are good people and not let those idiots that go around digging holes and making a mess get all the attention. May God bless you and your family!

being so new to this, just finding a ring that size would be cool, but giving it back must be the bigest buzz ,, congrats:thumbup:
