Ground Balance question Vaquero

I know this has been covered before, but I have a little bit of an issue when I ground balance my V. I can get a good neutral ground balance in all metal. then I can walk five feet and check it and it will be a little positive or negative. I can then do the same thing again. Walk some were else and it is a little off or sometimes a lot. I always try and find a good clean, metal free spot to do it. (not always easy). Do any of you guys have this issue? Also is the detector deeper and or more sensitive if it is set up more negative? If this is the case why couldn't I just put it in all disc. mode and turn it toward neg. until it get erratic and falses, then turn it back toward pos. a little until it settles down and hunt there?

I have noticed that some sites I've been to, you have to re balance due to the ground conditions changing.
If I am searching a new site for the first time, I will check the ground balance more often just to see if the ground shifts.
Most of the time once I ground balance the detector and take off searching and then re-check later, it will only be slightly off but not enough to effect performance.
I have had the machine go very negative and this is apparent by the false signals the machine gives off .. a sure sign to adjust the balance.
Most folks seem to think slightly positve ground balance gives better depth.. I'm can't say one way or the other on this.. I usually ground balance neutral.

The only thing i can think of about your ground balance issue is that you are on a area were the ground minerialazation is changing from spot to spot. The other questions i don't know.I just do as the manual states on GB.Get a unchanging tone when i lower the coil towards the ground and that has always worked for me. O:)

When I am nuggetshooting with my Vaquero, I sometimes have to ground balance every few feet, due to the constant changing of ground mineralization. I always re-check it (especially in unknown ground) at least every 10 feet of hunting.
