Ground Balance question...

I have a golden umax with manual ground balance. There is no retune switch on the detector so does switching from all metal to disc and then back to all metal accomplish this? Or is is needed in the GB process.Thanks.

can accomplish that task, but the All Metal mode's autotune is designed to handle the task of threshold maintenance in All Metal mode.
Curious, with your Golden

Its been a while since Ive had to use manual GB.I thought after adjusting the gb you had to retune for the threshold or something like that.I havent used this unit yet.So I guess to gb it in all metal, after setting the threshold,I lower and raise the coil until I get a slight rise in threshold as I near the ground,of course adjusting the gb to get this result. Thanks for your help and all advice is most welcom:))

If your Golden is like mine the auto-tune will retune it by the time you blink. Fastest I've seen, makes pinpointing in all metal a little harder for us old codgers raised on manual retune.

The autotune speed takes some adapting for many of us 'oldtimers' in this hobby!
While I have enjoyed using Tesoro's for over twenty years, and maintain at least one in my personal arsenal, and can appreciate the silent search performance for certain applications ... I am still one of those who prefers to hear an audio threshold in any search mode for the bulk of my detecting.
Just another one of the things you can get used to after time and have a hard time changing from. I still wish all of the models had the mode change options of the Sidewinder

Thanks JB.If the weather holds mon or Tues I hope to try it out.I sure miss my Cutlass2 umax.I reluctantly sold it to a friend who wanted to get into the hobby:))

I like the setup on my Cointrax and Goldtrax Barons. I can set autotune speeds from very, very slow to extremely fast, or turn autotune off and use manual retune. VCO is another feature I don't care for even though I've been using detectors with it since the CZ's came out in the early 90's. Guess I'm an old fogey but I still prefer a threshhold also. Oh well, times and detectors change and we have to adapt or be left behind .
