Ground balance quit working on AT Pro:sad:

Today is my fourth trip out with my AT Pro and the ground balance isn't working. I get no sound from it when I try to ground balance and the numbers don't change. I tried resetting the detector and removing the batteries. Still don't work. The rest of the detector seems to be working good. I did find a penny at 6 inches today and could tell that those bottle tops actually where bottle tops.
I am going to send it back to repairs, but will wait until after the holidays.
I was planning to do a beach test tomorrow, but guess it doesn't make much sense if I can't ground balance. Actually I might try it anyway and bring my fishing rod with me too. :laugh:

check & make sure you have pushed the ground balance button in
when its in ground balance it says ground balance then it works fine
i also thought it wasn't working woops i guess i should read the instruction manual again & again

Call or email Garrett and see if they have a solution for you without sending it in. Might be some simple adjustment.

Well they called me todayand said my AT Pro is in........ But now since already the Ground balance quit working on some .....I might tell them to go to the next person in line and wait till spring............. Till they get the bugs worked out of them..........
 
Yes the GB may be working but not as I expected. In my front yard and GB it will not move from 90. If I manually move it to 80 and then GB it will not move from 80. If I manually move it to 40 and GB it will move to 80.
In my back yard it will move from 90 to 69. If I manually put it on 40 then GB it will go to 62. Looks like if it GBs within 10 of where it should be it stops. I have never GBed a Garrett unit before but this is not what I was expecting. I am finding the deep targets in my test garden.
 
So when Garrett gets this kind of feedback do they stop the production of the machines until the bugs are worked out? I way down the line from a purchase but I don't want to have to send it back.
I don't know much about Garrett customer service. Are they good? Anybody have any experience with them?:confused:
 
The ground balance on mine cut out today also. It had been working fine, auto balancing down to 16 in the wet sandy beach and as high as 93 in other areas. Today it quit. Won't auto balance at all. It just stays where ever I set it manually. Oak, did you hear from Garrett ?

We talked for awhile about my problem and then he decided it should be sent back.
UPS will pick in up on Friday and Garret are paying the postage.
It might be broke, but the customer service is great. How many companies have you dealt with lately that will call you back?
I should have a replacement before Christmas. That is OK with me. I have another detector I can use until then.
I can say that it sure loves nickels. My last machine that liked them that much was my MXT. The roll audio is great and you can tell
a bottle cap from a coin. When I get it back, I will give it a beach trip.

I'm going to double check mine tomorrow, but I'm pretty confident it will have to go back as well. I tried to call them to see if there was anything else I could try, but they were already closed for the day. Glad to hear service is top notch. Funny you mentioned nickels. I found 3 yesterday.
 
Nobody is better than Garrett customer service and there is probably only one or two others that are as good.
