ground balance...whatcha got?

85 to 92 and about a third/half of the mineralization bar at times but it can change in a few feet so I usually run the Deus in tracking mode unless the modern trash gets too thick and then I switch to the etrac.

The reason I asked is that with my Deus so far I have tried ground balancing with pumping and sweeping the coil watching the ground readings and then using manual put in an average. When pumping I usually get 77-80 (the ground in my home area is quite mild), and I see these same numbers when sweeping....so usually my ground balance is 77-80. I think this is what is giving me the falses I am experiencing....if I raise the GB up to around 87-90 it does ease up on the falses. My question is...if during pumping it locks in 77 GB, but then is noisy with falses, if I raise to 90...isnt that a huge positive offset on GB that affects your depth ? This is the one area about the Deus that really has me confused.

Watch your actual GB on the screen as you sweep. Then set your GB one point higher. Or you could run tracking. You are low enough that you might not have to set a ground notch.
If you get a crazy Deus in tracking, then set a ground notch and that will settle it down proper.

You will get much more falsing when you run your reactivity below 2. Then its a matter of slowing your swing some and rechecking targets.
