Ground Balance

This is probably the most basic of all MXT questions, but I just wanted to make sure I am doing things right. What is the absolute proper way to ground balance the machine? Do you put it on the ground, turn it on, listen for threshold, then pump it? Or turn it on while it is away from the ground. I'm not sure if this even matters, but I thought, hey, I'll put the question out there. Maybe there're others wondering the same thing. Thanks!

Turn you machine on while in the air and hold it up from the ground about a foot or so. Then pump the coil up and down about 6" or less from the ground, touching the ground about three times or so until it's balanced. HH, Nancy

Unless you have ground tracking locked, getting a good initial GB is not all that important, the MXT will balance itself within seconds when you start hunting. If you do hunt with tracking locked, just bob the coil until the threshold is stabilized making sure you are in clean ground.

Pull the trigger switch all the way back, and make sure you not over any metalic targets. If there is, find a clean spot in the ground. After you find a clean area, raise the coil up to your waist. Squeeze the trigger switch. Lower the coil to the ground. There should not be much change in the threshold, if it goes up slightly thats o.k. That how you will know if it's GB.

OK,
I get the start-up ground balance.
Turn on lower coil to "clean" ground and pump until threshold is smooth.

Now... to add to this, I have a question...
After you have found a target and set you machine down... possibly on bad ground and your balance may have tracked off...
To re-balance do you just find "clean" ground again and pump the coil?? or do you need to turn the MXT off and start over to get a good balance??

Not trying to high-jack your thread.
Just a question on ground balancing that I have had for a while and thought this would be a good time to ask...

Thanks & HH

Without the auto track, I have started all over, just to make sure it's balanced. Then I don't worry about missing anything. HH, Nancy
