Ground Balancing the Tejon HELP!!!!

Tom Miles

New member
Was wondering how to ground balance this thing!!! Do you take it out of VCO does that make it easier? Any tips would be appreciated!!!!

Hay Tom,

It must be in all metal mode.

Turn the ground balance knob counterclock wise 5 full revolutions.
It will turn endlessly. So 5 turns will insure that it is all the way negative.
Turn it 2 revolutions clockwise. It will be a little on the positive side.
You can use it good enough to do the next step.

Find a place on the ground where there are no target responses.

Hold the coil about 9" off the ground and lower the coil suddenly to
1" from the ground.

Listen only when the coil is being lowered. Don't worry about any
noises other than while the coil is traveling downward.

If the sound gets louder, turn the knob counter clockwise. (or down) (or -)

If it gets quieter, turn the knob clockwise. (or up) ( or +)

Kind of like a volume knob. Too quiet, turn it up. Too loud, turn it down.

Adjust it that way until it makes no change in volume as the coil travles
downward.

I think most people like to leave it just a tad positive. Supposed to
respond better.

If you PM me, I can eMail you a video on ground balancing Tesoro'es.

It used to be on the Tesoro site, but it is no longer there.

I have it in PhotoBucket. But can not send it in a PM or a post.

PM me if you want to see it.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Tom,
I run the Tejon in VCO mode all the time. That's my preference, some don't like the VCO mode. To ground balance, I pull the trigger to put it in all metal, adjust the threshold so you can just hear it and then while holding the trigger in all metal, follow TabDog's instructions.

If you don't have a manual, go to the Tesoro web page and down load a manual for reference.

Enjoy your Tejon!!
