Imagine getting to a favorite spot to dig wheaties and silver and find this ... except these were only 2 of them...

I spent 10 minutes walking around filling the plugs back in.
(And this isn't much of an improvement)....

It is apparent that the holes were dug while the ground was dry and left unfilled. The rain yesterday watered the roots but by then the grass had died.

If you have not heard it enough you will hear it one more time:

FILL YOUR HOLES!!!! The only thing you should leave behind is your footprints. It is uncaring or ignorant people who do things like this that cause us to lose places to detect. (Ignorance is cureable with knowledge).

If ya want to metal detect in that baseball field I have been talking about - fine BUT fill the holes in and take your trash you find with you.

Should I find more like this on future trips I will be asking the Neigborhood Watch in that area to take down license numbers and take pictures of the offenders. Thank God that the Township that owns the property knows me well enough to know I didn't do this.

Enough said!

...I went over the THer"s code of ethics...AND;I STRESSED"FILL IN YOUR HOLES"...And;the pastror said after service Sunday"the main point in the detecting program was'FILL IN YOUR HOLES"...i told them nobody wants to go by a nice house;and what was once a nice lawn around it;and see the end results of some IDIOT with a metal detector that left open holes-:ranting:..THIS IS TO THE NIT-WIT THAT LEFT THEM OPEN HOLES IN THE FIELD PETE AND I HUNTED 2 WEEKS AGO-DONT RUIN IT FOR THE REST OF US-FILL 'EM IN;OR STAY OUTTA THERE!!...

Even though they know I didn't leave the ground like that...they had to do what they had to do. I honestly don't blame them. I spent an hour covering up somebody elses mess and didn't even hunt last time I was there. I was ashamed of the mess somebody else had left.
They just made the site off limits to any detecting.

Confront him! Although I have seen where dogs or other critters flip the plugs over to see what is under there! :)

n/t

because I know they destroy the roots of plants...and I leave them on top of the ground where birds can see them.
