GT Set up

Hey guys,

I just bought a GT with 180 meter and Sunray probe. I'm having a bit of a hard time getting it set up to work. I have it set up like so........

Coil plugged into Probe box and probe plugged into Probe box
Probe box pigtail into meter and meter to main control box.

Does that sound right? Because I can't even get a signal on an air tested quarter.

Nevermind I figured it out. Simple user error

You had the probe switch set to probe or the probe cable and the coil cable turned around so when on coil the probe was on and when on probe the coil was on. It happens more time than a person wants to admit too. Wait untill you swing away and it gets no signal or erradic only to find out you left the probe on, it happens to all of us. Good luck as you have a great set up and will do you well.

Rick you got it! I had the probe and coil cable reversed
I sat here thinking, gee, do I have a defective unit?! I bought the detector and probe used so I'm not sure if a manual comes with the probe laying it out for you. Either way it's working and I'm happy.

Yeah, I have read about people forgetting to flip the probe switch back to coil so I'll keep an incredibly watchful eye on that when hunting. Thanks Rick
