GTA 1000 vs. ultra.

I was just curious about your thoughts on the depth capabilities of these 2 great old machines.
I used to hunt with a GTA1000 but wondered if the ultra was capable of performing a lot better?
Thanks...Darrell

how do you know if it's the powermaster machine? i bought a gta ultra 1000 and will get it tomorrow. is the ultra the powermaster or is there another machine that says powermaster on it? thanks.............roger

I had a gta 1000 power master when they came out. It was a good little detector. Will pick up coins to eight inches. It was my first Garrett detector and I found tons of stuff with it.

If it's an Ultra, it's not a Powermaster. I had both at one time, gave the Ultra away in a contest and kept the PM. Don't fret though, the Ultra will still do the job, the PM just seems to have a little more oomph, especially on the lower conductivity stuff like nickles and gold.
