gtax 1000 no signal on platnum or w. gold???

looking for some help, I have a gtax1000 and I;ve just got it back from garrett with flying colors and two new coils. In "beach" mode ive had no problem finding quarters,dimes, a few nickels,and pennies on the beach here in the outer banks of NC. I hunt on dry,wet sand and in salt and brackish water up to a few feet deep. I've also found copper,brass etc.but i have yet to find any gold, silver, or any other precious metals i.e jewelry . so today i air tested my machine on several different rings and to my surprise got no tone at all on my wifes white gold wedding band or her platnum engagement ring. I did get good signals from titanium wedding band , gold class ring. gold wedding band?????????????? and also I've found no old coins and very few nickels??? any thoughts???

what discrimination are you running... or are you in all-metal mode.

Does the machine still signal visually on the LCD notch? Or is there simply no response whatsoever?
Remember, platinum has similar conductivity as iron, so it would be best to use All Metal mode if that's what you're looking for. Or, you can keep it on Beach Mode and just "Accept" all the lower notches. Or, even still, you can just wave that jewelry under the search coil and hit "Accept". Of course, that's only if the cursor signals visually when waving jewelry under search coil. As for the white gold, it may signal lower on the conductivity scale than "Beach Mode" accepts, especially if it's very thin jewelry. Just "Accept" those notches and you should be good to go.
Now, if there is no visual indication on these items, then there MUST be something wrong with the machine. If Garrett's just serviced your machine they should address this problem at no charge to you. Other than perhaps shipping on your side.
Oh yeah, and "Beach Mode" does include a "Salt Elimination" feature that's not mentioned in the owner's manual, but was as an additional feature on any mode in later models. This "Salt Elimination", unfortunately, has a tendency to reduce the machine's response on gold and lower conductivity targets. Regardles, don't run your sensitivity too high or you may actually lose depth.
On salt water beaches, concentric search coils actually do much better than double D, ("DD"). DD search coils work better in areas with a higher iron mineralization.
Hope everything works out for ya. That GTAx 1000 is a sweet machine. I don't have one anymore, but I've used them for many, many years.
