I have been a long time Whites user, but had a chance to pick up a mint Garrett GTAx 1000 with the 8" coil and a unused 4.5" coil. Have not had a chance to due more than air testing, but seems like a very nice detector. If any one has used this detector in the past would like to hear any input you might be willing to post. Don.

It is a great machine! Yours has the "power master" circuitry, 20% more depth then the previous GTA 1000 models. It's a great great coin/jewelry shooter. Have fun with it. :)

Had a chance between rain showers to detect with the GTAx 1000, got in about 40 minutes. Did not play with any settings, just wanted to give it a test. Dug 16 pennies, 2 dimes, 2 nickels, and a few pull tabs and a bit of can slaw. Found the detector to be very stable, and well balanced, the id was mostly spot on. I do have one question, are there or was there any DD coils made for this detector? It has a 5 pin connection but one of the pins is centered? Don.
