GTAx550?

Can anybody tell from hands on how the GTA 550 is and how it compares to the ACE 250? Since I have time till tectin season here in NY I have been researching new detectors and I kinda like the GTA 550 and I then I thought I would ask on this great forum. Thanks in advance.

I have no idea how it works compared to the 250. But my detecting mate had one and made a lot of good finds with it. Its a reliable and toughbuilt detector.

I have a 550 my first machine.i have also had a 250,750,1250,and a 1500.but i always went back to my 550.the 550 has 2 settings coin and all metal you can also customize by notching out signals.pretty basic machine not a lot of things to figure out.as you use it and learn it you will be surprised at how good of a machine it is i have found a bunch of neat relics with mine.also a great coinshooter my best being a seated 1854 dime which around here is a pretty old find.

The ACE 250 is a better detector....lighter, uses only 4 "AA"'s and probably gets better depth then the 550 coil size comparatively.

NOT MUCH LIGHTER AND NOT AS MUCH DEPTH.had both at the same time compared the two and the 550 is in my opinion the better of the 2

I have a field test on it at lostreasure.com. It's a great little goodie getter and hot on rings.

Yeah the 550 would have the edge on the 250. That's why it's still selling after a jillion years.
