GTI 1500

I know everyone's talking about the AT Pro, and I'm sure it's a great detector, but I'm more interested in the GTI 1500. I've been saving up for it for some time, and I'm getting close to the point where I'm going to actually spend some money. However, I've only held one once at a treasure show, so that most of the information that I have on it is through reading. I'd like to get some info from someone who has actually used one.

thanks

Your going to love the imaging feature. I have the GTI 2500. Take Uncle Willy's advice when he says turn the sensitivity down to about 6 and just leave it there. It makes the detector stable and easier to comprehend what it's trying to tell you. The only issue I have with this series is the weight. I'm thinking of getting either the AT Pro or the ACE 350 just so I can continue hunting when my arms get tired. There are harnesses available but I'd rather have another detector.

I have been using the GTI's more many years. I have found literally thousands of coins with mine. That Imaging feature is a real blessing for coin and jewellry hunters. It allows you to leave the bigger targets in the ground, saving you lots of time to dig better targets.

Hi Deacon

This was my 1st full year with my 1500

I LOVE it .... the imagiang is great and
as you learn it ( like I am ) it will
find coins and stuff you might miss otherwise

Have used one for about 2 years now, great machine, found lots of coins and jewelry. The only drawback is the weight. After about 4 to 5 hours, your arm turns to spaghetti. I don't use a shoulder harness but am thinking of getting one. I normally hunt all day and have to take several breaks for my arm to recoop. I've gotten spoiled with all the different functions this machine has and ca't see myself using another detector. I will probably but the new AT_PRO once I get some reviews how it performs in saltwater if that day ever comes.
HAPPY HUNTING
TRIPLE-SSS

Have you tried mounting your battery pack to your belt ? I use this method quite often and it sure helps with the weight.

I have only had my 1500 for a few months but find it very good. I felt at home with it almost straight away. Not only is the imaging very good but also the fact that the depth is based on the size of the object rather than the usual coin only size, so is far more accurate. I would say that within about 2 hours of use I was able to correctly determine the material of a find about 75% of the time before digging. Depth was also very good, in fact I have found it will almost match my Safari on pasture and will better it on plough. I've not found any Roman or hammered coins yet but am confident this is the machine to do it. Don't be afraid to use zero discrim from the off as it helps you to learn the sounds and they do vary nicely depending on position of the find as well as its material. Although it is only really a machine which beeps, the beeps do have a varying quality to them.

I have not found weight too high.If you get the stem length correct for your height the machine balances well and the weight is not too noticeable. I don't generally belt mount the batteries as I use cordless headphones and that would defeat the object somewhat.

All in all I think it is one of the best detectors available at the moment. I'm sure you will be delighted with your choice.
