True all metal mode is the mode on the GTI 2500 that is true all metal in the sense that is will pick up ALL metal. Discriminate mode has a cut-off point and will no read all both low and high conductive targets. So, as a result, the true all metal mode gets some extra depth and is much more sensitive then the discriminate mode. So what does this mean?
Well, in a very junk littered area, the true all metal mode will sound off on all targets, at great depths and drive you buggy. These types of places are better hunted in discriminate mode, where the target sounds become less and less as you add more discrimination. However, if you are hunting an area where there are known deeper targets, and the place isn't littered with metallic junk, the GTI 2500 becomes a real asset. Also, if you are hunting a place that has been hunted to death, the true all metal mode will alert you to the deeper signals. The GTI also gives you a probable target ID , and if the target shows up in a specific ID which interests you, dig it. Sometimes, when I hunt a moderately junk area, I will hunt in zero discriminate mode, and the targets with a good signal strength I flip back to zero discrimination mode, to get a second opinion of what my machine is telling me.
Now, to even further enhance the true all metal mode, Garrett has designed the GTI 2500 so that it can be manually ground balanced, to ever further squeeze some depth out of it.
So that's how I have come to utilize the GTI 2500 true all metal mode.
Of course, the GTI 2500 also makes an excellent coin shooter, and using the imaging helps to leave the larger targets in the ground, and only dig the coin sized objects. I hope you enjoy the GTI 2500 as much as I have. That changing of the chip should make it an awesome detector.
