GTP 1350 first impression

I got my 1350 friday and had some time to hunt with it today.
I don't want to list all features because you can see them at www.garrett.com
The 1350 has the same featutes like the 1250 plus profiling.
I had a GTAx 1250 before and liked it. So i thought a 1250 with profiling (GTP 1350)is even better.
I bought the 1350 for 560 $. That is the same price you have to pay for the 1250 without profiling.
I guess the dealer need permission now from garrett to sell the 1250 with more than 20% discount to sell one.
My impression on the 1350:
If you turn Profiling off it hunts the same way like the 1250 does.
If you turn Profiling on by pressing and releasing pinpoint/profiling you can size the target while you swing you coil. You get a small, medium or large reading on the display.
If you hunt at the beach this is a nice feature because you don't want to dig coke cans that read like coins.
I tried that profiling in my backyard today and it works great ones you know how fast to swing the coil over the target.Coin can jump from small to medium size sometimes if you swing to slow over the target.
But within minutes i knew how to do it.
Cans read medium size all the time and sometimes jump to large.
The nice thing is the profiling works with all coils.
You don't need an imaging coil like the GTIs have.
All GTAx coils work on the 1350 .
Thats what i really like: I can use my 4.5 sniper coil now and still have sizing.
If i would have an GTI 1500 i would sell it and buy the 1350 because the 1500 can't size with a small coil.
And the new Proformance 7x10 coil is better too.
It's easy to swing, you cover a lot of ground in a short time, easy to pinpoint with and well made.
I don't know how deep the coil will detect now.Give me some time on that.
The coins i found today in a local park were all newer ones within 4 inch depth.
I think garrett has a problem now because they are killing at least 3 detectors with the 1350:
1. The GTAx 750 was discontinued ( I don't know why because the 1350 takes the place of the 1250)
2. The 1250 has the same price like the 1350.Who is buying a detector with less features for the same money.
3. The GTI 1500 is 720 $ discounted.Thats 160 $ more
for a detector that can't size with a smaller coil.
If you buy the next garrett go for the 1350.

Andy

Like I said earlier, with one fell swoop Garrett stuck it to the dealers. Obsoleted the 1250 and the 1500, nobody in there right mind would buy them and no good dealer in good conscience could sell them to a customer. I know if I was still a dealer I couldn't tell a customer to buy a 1250 or 1500.
After 33 years of being a Garrett user and onetime dealer. Stan

Sounds like you're sold on the 1350. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> Good luck and keep us posted on your success.
