GTP 1350

After checking the specs and using Garrett for 30+ years, selling Garretts, this is a GTI 1500 rebadged or a 1250 upgraded and the only difference I see is that it comes with a 7X10 DD coil which should help some on the depth. Lists and will sell for about the same as a 1250. Get mad at me if you want, but thats my opinion, untill someone comes up with more concrete proof that this is a better machine. Around $560.00 discounted.

It seems to me that Garrett has decided to put a modified form (3 sizes instead of 5) of their imaging and their DSP based technology in their middle range (GTAx) machines. This is a logical step as it is common to take advanced technology that was contained only in the high end machines and spread it through the whole line after it has been out a while.
I have to agree that the 1350 looks like a slightly lesser form of a GTI-1500 - with the only apparent difference being 3 size IDs instead of 5.
I myself have 2 main questions left after reading the intial descriptions of the GTP-1350 - did they improve the software the DSP chip is running or is it basically running the same code as the GTI's. My second question is does putting the imaging technology in the mid-line machines mean that they have something new for the high end that will be introduced later on - as they have said that several new machines would be announced this year.
For now it looks like owners of GTI machines will probably want to stick with their current machines while GTAx owners have some incentive to upgrade.
I also think it is interesting to see a new non-concentric imaging coil - I wonder if they will come out with a 7x10 imaging coil for the GTI's.
Though of course I can't wait to read Bill's description of the machine in Lost Treasure (assuming that some things never change):b in order to get the full picture.

Stan, Actually Garrett claims it will be a nice upgrade for the GTAx 550. So it does make it confusing, cause looks like it is between the 1250 and 550.

To me if I had to buy, I would chose the 1350 over the 1250 or the 1500. I think they sunk both these machines. Better than the 1250 and cheaper than the 1500. And the dealers are stuck with it. Too bad. Again just my opinion. Stan

You do have a point Stan, I will be anxious to test it, like to see if it does get the depth of the 1500, or more than the 1250, hope to test it in the coming week if my field rep gets here like he said he would.
