GTP and I Braved The Heat and Struck Silver!

I worked a 12 hour night shift last night and I slept till about noon, so I headed out in the heat and humidity to my favorite site. I have pulled about 200 quarters from this site since spring, but never any silver. I was using my 1350 with the 9 x 12 coil and I got a partial hit at 8 inches. I usually don't dig those deep one way hits but I thought what the heck, I was rewarded with 2 silver quarters sitting on edge....I did the happy dance! Then I recovered and moved about 5 feet towards the tree line and got this 1964 JFK half dollar at 3 inches! I followed the happy dance with a cart wheel! (Not) but, I thought about trying a cart wheel! Total for my 1 hour hunt, 36 clad quarters, 4 dimes 5 pennies and a Canadian Penny and the 3 silvers! What a day!:garrett: I also got what appears to be some kind of madallion.

Nice day Oakman!! And who are you kidding you know you did a cart wheel!! hehe:wiggle:

If I did, I'd probably be laid up for a week! LOL....I did have a good hunt though, I like cwilk's idea on trying a night hunt. Usually no bystanders and it would be cool and comfortable!

Yikes! Superb finds! I found a 1964 Kennedy Half three years ago with my Bounty Hunter and was quite pleased. A lot were minted but they were hoarded from the get go because Kennedy was so popular after his untimely death. Those iffy signals can be some very good targets. Dig them. My hunt today sucked. Everyplace I went was in use and I had to go until after dark just to get a few coins in my pocket. I had a nice iffy signal that was below a rock that I never did recover. I tried and tried to get the rock out and then the school custodian came over to say hi and probably see why I was working one hole so hard so I filled it in and moved on. Wasted about 15 minutes. Lots of driving, very little detecting. I should have stayed home. I'm glad your day was a lot better.

Don't feel bad bud I had a lousy day yesterday. Walked 900 miles ( not but it felt like it ) and found less than a buck, plus it was hotter than the hubs of hell. Every spot I wanted to hunt was covered up with half-naked bodies. Sun bathers were all over the place.

Awsome hunt:yo: I would consider a '64 Kennedy a huge bonus and a dollars worth of silver coins in one hunt an even bigger bonus unless you're tearin' up the floor boards like Uncle Willy.

Great finds.

Bet you're glad you went out. Nice going on the silver !
Looks like the 1350 is doing a great job for you.

Those lousy days are few and far in between for me. I drove somewhere around 60 miles before I even hit a site that wasn't in use.

Those are the days I usually have! Chris, I know I should dig those iffy signals. The site I am at the most is not that old and I just didn't expect to find silver there! :garrett:

You never know what was there prior to what it is now. I found a large cent at a school that was a corn field prior. Some farmer might have lost it 150-170 years agon until I came along.

Nice! I will dig those iffy signals now!

Congrats on finding the silver, especially the half dollar. It's sweet to find.
I've been enjoying reading about your hunts with the 1350. Keep 'em coming. I've been tied up with reno's at home for a bit, so haven't been able to hunt. Hopefully I can get out in a couple of weeks.:bouncy:.
All the best.
Mick Evans.
