Hey all, Can anyone tell me if I would get "a little more depth" with the double "D" 10x14 coil? I know it's for highly mineralized soils. But, would I get more depth in low mineralized soil as well? I have a lot of big open spaces here to hunt, ie soccer fields, farmers fields, old fair grounds and big yards, I would like to cover more ground faster, but mostly, I would like to get a couple of inches deeper, than with my stock 7x9 coil. Should I just get the 9x12 or the double "D" 10x14? Thanks so much for your input. I would also like to wish all you Dad's, Grandpa's, step-Dad's and Dad want-a-bee's and very happy and safe Father's Day!!!:garrett::clapping:
 
I have the big 12.5 inch imaging coil for my 2500 and find that it does get a bit more depth. When I use it, I find I have to lower sensitivity a bit at times. I don't use it all that much unless I'm hunting a big farmers field for relics or a site that I've really cleaned out using the stock coil. One thing to keep in mind is that if a coil says 10-20 percent more depth that only translates to an inch or two.

I can't really speak about the DD coils never having used one. I'm sure John or Bill will have your answer.

FWIW, I use my small scorcher coil more than my big coil.

Thanks Chris, I thought about getting the 4.5 inch coil first but I really haven't hunted in areas with alot of trash...yet anyway.:garrett:
 
Unless your ground is highly mineralized the 12 inch concentric will get you the same depth. The DD doesn't discriminate as well as the concentric and loves bottlecaps. Read my field test on the 10x14 at losttreasure.com

Yeah I field tested the 10x14 when it first came out and it was published in Lost Treasure. The big coils will get one 2-3 inches more in depth.
